* The "old timers" call it Vickery Creek and maps call it Big Creek. So the confusion made me want to check it out and see what the real story was. Fortunately, Florence Anne Berna, Manager, was a big help as she brought in Elaine DeNiro, CA Archivist, both of the Roswell Convention & Visitors Bureau. 1831, a map that part of Georgia occupied by the Cherokee Nation by John Bethune, marked as Vickery’s
1831 – 1870s, according to various maps and documents, known as Vickery’s Creek
1885 – 1940s, known mostly in Forsyth County as Vickery’s Creek, known closer to Roswell area as Big Creek
1950s – known as Big Creek"
